Histopathological Alterations in Nile Tilapia Oreochromis Niloticus (L.) as Influenced by Dietary Antiparasitic Drug Emamectin Benzoate at the Recommended and Higher Doses for an Extended Period

The effects of the dietary antiparasitic drug emamectin benzoate (EB) on biosafety and kidney, liver intestine tissue histopathology Oreochromis niloticus were assessed. Extended EB medication at recommended dose (50 μg/kg biomass/day) for 21 days reduced survival, feed intake biomass. A dose-dependent hepatotoxic, nephrotoxic intestinal toxic noticed. Tubular degeneration, glomerulopathy, inflammation necrotized renal interstitium in kidney glycogen-type vacuolation cytoplasmic degeneration observed. exhibited loss absorptive vacuoles, mucinous villi region inflammation. Lamina propria swelling was noticed higher-dosed groups. With termination medication, pathological changes significantly, indicating ability fish to mount adaptive responses recoup. extended administration is unlikely produce adverse irrevocable dose.
